Artist statement:
I try to approach my photography with a receptive mind, and see what is really there, not what I expect to see. This attitude allows me to be spontaneous; rather than being weighed down by a preconceived notion of what I “should” photograph, I accept whatever I find. Photography helps me to live more fully in the present. It has honed my powers of observation, and made me more aware of the ordinary miracles I encounter every day.
Artist biography:
Julie is a digital fine art photographer. She resides in Markham, just a short drive from the local farmland and woods she loves to photograph. Her formal education and training is in the IT field where she has worked as a developer, consultant and instructor in the software industry for 17 years. She has now transitioned her passion for teaching into the photography arena, and runs many workshops in the classroom, in the field, and even online. Julie produces her own Giclée photographic prints using Epson Ultrachrome inks on Hahnemühle papers for quality and longevity.
Julie's photography is focused on two themes. The first is macro photography of Nature, with a special passion for flowers. This reflects the love of details that pervades all aspects of her life. The second subject is Ontario farmland. She is fortunate to live only a short drive away from some beautiful rural landscapes. She grew up in a rural area outside Ottawa, and feels very much at home in that environment. |
